Threshing

A slice of history in the heart of Somerset, the Threshing project entailed extensive expansion work – modelled on the historic plan – to enhance a Grade II listed threshing barn with luxury living quarters.

Obtaining Listed Building Consent and significant change of use for our developer client, our design team provided a service which proposed separate bedroom suites, an inner courtyard garden, and an open barn reception space complemented by historic roof timbers.

A glorious Grade II listed grain barn in rural Somerset, we provided a successful design service for our developer client to obtain significant change of use for this listed building.

The finished design offered a three-storey building – with a complementary, cart barn conversion to be used as a modern open plan kitchen and dining space – the requirements (and charm) it needed to be approved.

Originally bought as a farm by a developer client, this old milking parlour in Shaftesbury, with its steel frame structure, required our expertise in gaining Class Q permission to convert into residential.

Currently considered the largest Class Q fallback application in the area, this project involved impeccable understanding of the jurisdiction for new builds in rural areas and showcases our team’s thorough understanding of the planning application process.

Tasked to welcome glorious views of Poole Harbour and the Purbeck Hills into a 1950’s bungalow with a concrete-tiled, hipped roof, we extended Highwood with a contemporary, metal clad, dormer window and glazed doors.

An internal, laminated timber wall structure added a challenge to this build, but it was successfully overcome by our painstakingly detailed designs.
